Test API Calls With This Application

Advanced REST client is a powerful API testing tool designed to help web developers create and test custom HTTP requests. While the application is deprecated by Google, a desktop client is available for installation. This API testing tool offers a user-friendly interface without the need for complicated forms or scripts. It allows you to save time and easily test APIs with its simplicity and powerful features.

As the only REST client that connects directly on a socket, Advanced REST client provides full control over the connection and request/response headers. It supports secure connections with valid certificates and offers the option to disable sockets and use Chrome's regular connection through the "use XHR" setting. In case of connection issues with remote machines, you can set up a proxy in Chrome settings.

To run the app, go to the New tab page and click on "Apps" in the top bar. Find the ARC (Advanced REST client) icon and launch the app. Additionally, the app installs itself in the system's apps search, accessible by pressing command+space on macOS or the Windows button on Windows. Simply type the app name to find it.

Key features of Advanced REST client include integration with Google Drive, the ability to make requests on sockets for greater control over HTTP headers, a convenient editor for managing HTTP headers and payloads, support for WebSockets, assistance with filling HTTP headers through hints and code completion, the option to add headers as raw data or via a form, the ability to construct POST or PUT bodies using raw input, form data, or file uploads, the ability to set custom form encoding, the capability to remember the latest request and restore the form state upon loading, the ability to save and open saved request forms with keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+S and Ctrl+O), a history of requests for easy reference, and data import/export functionality.
